How to learn English in 10 minutes a day

A way to study English in spare minutes: use a short scene to finish understanding, repeating, a quiz, and review, so 10 minutes a day actually adds up.

Updated Jun 4, 2026

Many people do have time to study English. What happens is that every start is too heavy: choosing material, looking up words, watching subtitles, taking notes. Ten minutes pass and real practice has not begun.

Avo's approach is to compress study into a small loop you can finish. Each day, do not try to learn a lot. Finish one short real scene: understand it, practice a few lines, check yourself, and leave it for the next review.

Who it fits

This article fits three kinds of learners:

  • work or study is busy, and English can only be practiced in spare minutes
  • it is easy to start many plans, and hard to keep them
  • the aim is real listening and speaking, not only drilling test questions

How to split 10 minutes

A practical 10-minute plan can be split like this.

1. Two minutes to understand the scene

First understand what the people are doing and why they said it that way. Do not rush to memorize sentences. Catch the situation first.

2. Three minutes on the key phrases

Pick only 3 to 5 lines from each stretch. The point is not "more dialogue." It is whether these sentences can move into your real conversations.

3. Three minutes saying them along

Repeat one sentence at a time, and notice the tone, the pauses, and the rhythm. Being able to say it matters more than chasing a perfect pronunciation.

4. Two minutes for a quiz and for saving

Use a small quiz to confirm that you really understood, then put useful phrases into the expression book. The next day's review will not start from zero.

Why a short time can still work

Short study works when the goal is small enough. A whole episode scatters attention. One short scene only has to solve one problem.

Ten minutes a day is not there to replace deep study. It is there to build steady input and output. Over time, a steady small loop is easier to keep up than an occasional two-hour session.

FAQ

Is 10 minutes too little?

If you are only watching video, 10 minutes may not be enough. If the goal is to learn a few phrases and finish repeating and review, 10 minutes is enough to start.

Does every day have to be new material?

Not necessarily. Some days, only reviewing the expression book is worthwhile. Language study needs repetition, not only pushing forward.

Why does Avo fit spare minutes?

Avo splits real clips into small tasks. That cuts the cost of choosing and organizing materials, so the learner gets into practice sooner.

Next step

You can lower the goal first: today, study only one small stretch, and take away only a few lines you can use. After a week, you will see more clearly which phrases are actually becoming familiar.
